This assignment focused on creating a two colour design for the RISO printer and could be on anything we wanted it to be on.
I choose to design a series around one of my favourite manga series, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun (JSHK) also known as Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun (TBHK) in English.
I wanted the zine to be a brief summery of the series, both written and visually. Since the series heavily uses dark colours with pops of red, I decided to mostly use black and have select elements in red.
After finalizing the colours, I experimented with the brush stroke options in Illustrator as I wanted the design to reflect the loose and rougher art style seen in the manga. Additionally, I did the same thing for the type.
